Discovery Studio hit the ground running for this brief 3-week session of Cartography!
The quest began with a “Choose Your Avatar” challenge. Learners choose explorer heroes such as Jeanne Baret, the woman who circumnavigated the world disguised as a man; Woni Spotts, the first Black woman to travel to every country in the world; and Junko Tabei, the first woman to reach the top of Mount Everest.

And then there’s maps – lots of maps! Learners explore their city to find familiar landmarks. They also play with 2-D and 3-D representations of our globe.

Via folklore and fairytale, Panthers travel the world! “Where is Congo?” “Where is Ghana?” “Where is Nigeria?” Learners search and place a sticker to track the countries we visit as we read Anansi tales. Next, we’ll explore stories from Europe and South America.
